Acceptable Use Policy

Operator identified (nwp/ops#142 controller ruling, re-stated by the operator 2026-09-12 for the site-copy audit Part E): the intro now names Robert Karsten Zaar, an individual of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and disclaims incorporation and any Apostoli Viae agency — a material APP 1 identification, so it forces re-acceptance. Also: 'copyright-notice.md' and './terms.md' became real /legal/<doc> links (they published as dead relative file paths); clause 2.9's unexplained named-certificate example became a general credential clause covering qualifications, academic awards, ecclesial offices and professional credentials — the named certificate appeared NOWHERE else in the tree, so it could not be explained without inventing a fact, and the operator ruled on 2026-09-12 to remove it outright; clause 2.10's two retired test hostnames became 'the demo and test copies of Narrow Way Commons and Saint School' (neither hostname is the current name of anything a member sees); clause 2.11 calls the agreement by the name the rest of the site uses, the Contribution Agreement, and links it; the two public site names are stated once in the intro; §7 says where the version number is and new §8 carries it (the **Version:** header is stripped from the published body by LegalDocRenderer::cleanMarkdown, and the .md header was itself stale at 1 while this file already said 2). v2: removed AI-disclosure prohibition (old clause 8): the DCO rights warranty governs tool-agnostically and doctrinal review is on the merits; AI-specific disclosure duty added burden without independent value (operator decision 2026-07-22). CONTACT ADDRESS FILLED IN: privacy@nwpcode.org is now published in the BODY of this document (the **Contact:** header is stripped by LegalDocRenderer::cleanMarkdown, so a header-only address reaches no reader). Not a new disclosure and not invented: the address is already provisioned and baseline-tracked per the privacy block's note above, already published in privacy.md since v2, and already shown on the live /contact page. Folded into this version rather than bumped again, because no version on this branch has been synced anywhere yet — one shipped version, one re-acceptance.

**Operator:** Robert Karsten Zaar, an individual, of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

**Contact:** privacy@nwpcode.org, or our contact form at /contact

**Status:** Operator-drafted, pre-counsel. Refined wording follows counsel engagement.

This policy applies to **Narrow Way Commons**, the community, and to

removal and/or account suspension at the Operator's discretion.

---

1. Use the site for its stated purpose

This site exists for Catholic theological education, formation, and

the orderly review of curated content. Use it for that, in good

faith. The Operator reserves the right to determine, on a case-by-case

basis, whether a use is consistent with the site's purpose.

2. Things you must not do

You agree **not** to:

1. **Break the law.** Anything illegal under Victorian, Australian,

or your local law is prohibited.

2. **Harass, threaten, defame, dox, or impersonate** any person.

3. **Distribute hateful or discriminatory content** including

content targeted at any person or group on the basis of race,

ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or

any other protected characteristic.

4. **Distribute sexually explicit material**, content that exploits

or endangers children, gratuitous violence, or content promoting

self-harm.

5. **Infringe copyright or other intellectual property** of any

third party. If you suspect a copyright infringement, raise it

per the procedure in the [Copyright Notice](/legal/copyright-notice).

6. **Distribute malware, exploits, or attack the site**, its

infrastructure, or any other site. Do not attempt to bypass

access controls, rate limits, or content gates.

7. **Scrape, mirror, or bulk-download** the site's content without

the Operator's written permission. This includes the use of

automated tools to ingest content into an LLM, search index, or

training corpus.

8. **Submit spam, advertisement, or commercial solicitations.**

9. **Misrepresent your affiliation or credentials**, including

falsely claiming a qualification, academic award, ecclesial

office, or professional credential that you do not hold.

export, screenshot at scale, or redistribute material visible

inside those gates.

11. **Violate the Contribution Agreement** —

[/legal/contribution-agreement](/legal/contribution-agreement) —

that you accepted on admission, if you have been admitted to a

test copy of either site.

3. Content safety

If you encounter content on the site that violates this AUP, or that

appears to expose a safeguarding concern (e.g. risk of harm to a

minor), please report it immediately to privacy@nwpcode.org or our

contact form at /contact. The Operator will respond within 72 hours

and may take down content pending investigation.

4. Reporting and takedown

A copyright owner who believes the site is hosting infringing

material may follow the takedown procedure in the

possible, notify the affected user.

5. Enforcement

The Operator may, in their sole discretion:

  • Remove content that violates this AUP
  • Suspend or terminate any account
  • Restrict access to specific features or pages
  • Refer matters to law enforcement when warranted

The Operator does not promise to monitor every contribution. The

absence of intervention is not an endorsement.

6. Appeals

If your account is suspended or your content removed, you may

appeal in writing to privacy@nwpcode.org, or through our contact form

at /contact, within 14 days. The Operator will respond within 30 days.
